I live in Florida and have a developmentally delayed Autistic son. He is asking for me to take him to dig shiny rocks (crystals). I would like to take him but do not know how or where to go. I know there are no rocks in Florida. Is there any place close (like Georgia, maybe) that has mining in June when he gets out of school?
We can camp or lodge, I have a VW.
Thanks in advance.

There are some places in Georgia that you can dig crystals. Unfortunately, one of the best pay to dig clear crystal mines recently closed. But, there is the Hogg Mine in Lagrange, Georgia. It is a pay to dig mine where you can find three different kinds of minerals, aquamarine beryl, black schorl tourmaline, and gemmy rose quartz. Depending on how far you would be willing to drive, there are some other places more north than Lagrange. I will email you off-board and touch base with you about the other places if you are interested. Thanks for posting!
