We were really excited to find an outcropping of pegmatite on one of the rural back roads. We didn’t have time to dig for long, but it did show promise. It had the classic signs for smoky quartz crystals, including lots of mica. We plan to go back to find out who owns that land.

In this area, the smoky quartz was massive and gemmy.
