While we were eating lunch,
Lynn and Kelley told us about their four-wheeler ride around the part of
the farm that Lynn lives on. They showed us some wood that they had
found over there while climbing up a hillside. Up to this point, no one
had ever found any petrified wood on that portion of the farm. After
finishing off a plate of squash dressing, garden-fresh veggies ..and the
biggest , fluffiest, creamiest home-made chocolate pie you’ve ever seen,
we went back to Lynn’s to investigate this new prospect.
By this time, it was around
2:00 in the afternoon... the heat of the day. Which that day meant 100
degrees with a scorching heat index!
Even though it was a
hundred zillion degrees out there, we weren’t deterred from our search
for the Mother Lode.
We looked around with the
four-wheeler as much as we could, but we ended up leaving it at the
bottom of the hill so we could get down in the washed out areas and look
more closely.
