There are several lakes on
the way home. We stopped at one to cool down and go for a swim...and
survey the beaches for crystals!
We all went in, clothes and
all! Katelyn had her "goodie bag" with her just in case she found
something.
This was the first thing I
found. It reminded me of barnacles. Each of the crystals in the cluster
has six sides. They are different than anything I have seen. Cool!
We knew that there might be
smokey quartz in the area, but Katelyn found Amethyst!
Andrew found this beautiful
smokey cluster. He was so proud!
I found a couple of small
smokey pieces and then I found this unique amethyst crystal cluster. I
love the stripes!
No matter how much Katelyn
looked for smokey, she just KEPT finding amethyst!!! This piece is so
dark, I had to put the sun behind it to show the color!
Katelyn's lake amethysts.
When we got home, we
cleaned up what we had found and Andrew came out with this nice
double-terminated twin crystal he had found at JXR. It has a beautiful
color swirl in the top.
This is a part of a cluster
that I found at JXR. I left it in the clay until I got home. I still
haven't finished cleaning it, yet!!
We had a great time. We
each found something that made us happy. We all had an awesome time
looking. Of course, the biggest treasure of the trip to me was the time
I spent with my kids doing something we all enjoy!!!
