On our way to Edisto Beach,
we had to cross over the Arthur J. Ravenel, Jr. Bridge. The Bridge is
North America's longest cable stay span.
This bridge is the third
bridge to span this part of the Cooper River overlooking Charleston
Harbor. It hosts 8 lanes of traffic and a 12 foot shared pedestrian and
bicycle lane. It opened in 2005 and reaches 1546 feet above the Cooper
River.
We arrived at Edisto Beach
just in time for lunch.
The beach was fairly
crowded when we got there. Everyone was just standing around.
We did pass by an aspiring
architect who was very proud of his latest project.
