THE LAGRANGE THROWDOWN
By Michelle
.................
I eagerly and swiftly
submitted my request to write this fieldtrip report because I love the
Lagrange Clear Crystal Mine sooo much!! It is absolutely my favorite
place to dig! This time we took some freshies along with us. I was
looking forward to seeing their expressions when they beheld the
sparkling secrets of the red Georgia clay.
Me , my sister Kelley , and
my nephew Mason were the first to arrive. I instructed them on where to
start and what to do. They caught on very quick.
The rest of the gang
arrived soon after ready to throwdown in the dirt. Andrew , Ryan, and
David lodged a triple attack on the sidewall of the pit.
David was already starting
to exhibit the stance of a serious rockhound.
We each adopted a newbie to
take under our wing. Andrew did a great job guiding Ryan to a nice
little crystal pocket.
Ryan found his first
crystal ever.......and it was a nice one!
Monte and David worked at a
higher elevation in the wall.
Pretty soon other pockets
were found and excitement exploded on the scene!!!
This is a pocket that I
found. This is one sight I could never get tired of. It never fails to
evoke that same utterly extreme level of excitement!!!
In a little while I
realized that I hadn't heard my sister talking anymore. I looked around
but she wasn't in the pit. I went up top to see where she had gone. As I
emerged, I saw a very strange sight. IT looked like a large butterfly
cocoon on the ground over at the edge of the woods. I went closer to
inspect.
Much to my surprise (and
maybe embarrassment), it was her, wrapped up in a blanket WITH A PILLOW
!! This was a little disconcerting but I held onto the hope that my
adopted newbie was not going to let me down this early in the game.
